Pixel Gallery With Friends

Data Protection Declaration

Effective Date: January 2025 (last updated: August 2026)

Thank you for using Pixel Gallery With Friends (“the App”). We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. Below, we provide a clear and transparent description of how we handle data, particularly in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data Collection and Usage

We do not require users to create an account, log in, or provide a name or email address to use the App.

When you first start the App, it generates a random, per install user ID and stores it on your device and on our server. This ID is used to save and restore your game progress: it is the key that links your remaining edits, total rewards count, and today’s rewards, and (together with our paintings API) which pixels you have painted. Without this ID, the App could not remember your progress between sessions.

This ID is not linked to your name or any other directly identifying information, and we do not ask for either. However, because it is stored persistently on our server and linked to a history of activity, it is pseudonymous personal data within the meaning of the GDPR (Art. 4(1), Recital 30) rather than fully anonymous data. We process it on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the App’s core game functionality and in preventing abuse, such as duplicate or fraudulent progress (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Temporary Logging of IP Addresses

The only additional data that is temporarily logged by our own servers is the IP address of users while communicating with them. This information is used solely for the purpose of maintaining the connection to the server and ensuring that the App functions correctly. The IP address is only retained for a limited period and is not used for any other purpose.

We do not store, associate, or use IP addresses logged by our own servers for any marketing, tracking, or profiling activities.

2. Advertising with Google AdMob

The App uses Google AdMob, a mobile advertising service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). AdMob allows us to display advertisements within the App.

To serve, measure and improve ads, and to prevent fraud and abuse, AdMob processes data such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, general device and app information, and ad interaction data. Depending on the consent you give, this data may be used to show you personalized (interest based) advertising; if you do not consent, or where required by law, only non personalized advertising is shown.

Where your consent is legally required, we ask for it through an in-app consent form before any personalized ads are served. The legal basis for this processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for personalized ads, and our legitimate interest in financing the App (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for non personalized ads. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time through the consent form in the App, or through your device’s ad settings (on Android: Settings > Google > Ads; on iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking), and you can reset or opt out of your advertising identifier there as well.

Data processed by AdMob may be transferred to, and processed on, servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google has committed to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses as a safeguard for such transfers.

For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps” at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3. Third Party Data Sharing

Other than the advertising data described in section 2, which is shared with Google for the purpose of serving ads through AdMob, we do not share any data with third parties. The IP address logs described in section 1 are kept solely for our own operational purposes, and no personally identifiable information (PII) is associated with them.

4. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data described above against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, please note that no security measure is entirely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, in particular for personalized advertising as described in section 2, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, or if you have any concerns or questions about your privacy while using the App, feel free to contact us.

6. Changes to This Declaration

We may update this data protection declaration occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted in the App or on this page with the updated date.
